Welcome to Country and Smoking Ceremony performed by Murrundindi, ngurungaeta (Elder) of the Wurundjeru people.
From Little things...big things grow.
The Yarra Eels are a striking sculpture already looking at home amongst the Yarra landscape. They are patterned with Wurundjeri totems inspired by the artworks of William Barak, Murrundindi’s great, great uncle. It was sensational to unveil the art pieces during eel migration season or Luk as it is known. The Yarra Foundation feels very proud to be involved.
Fun fact: Simon chose Eels as they live and migrate upstream in the Yarra River, so they are locals.
